The Big Issue front cover

when making this, I wanted to include a topic reflecting the zeitgeist that also shared the ideology of altruism. Due to the release of the new season, stranger things was very reflective of the time. Netflix also had previously donated therefore in made it the perfect thing to include on the front. Overall,  I think I adhered to the conventions with the picture slightly overlapping the heading and the bar code and puff.overall I’m very happy with how it turned out.

Richard Dyre's theory

one reason as to why this music video is perfectly suited for Richard dyers theory is, number one, how relatable Adele presents herself seeming to be a well rounded and down to earth person. this music video successful demonstrate each aspect of the theory:

1) the contradiction- the artist seeming extraordinary- her coming in a golden gown floating in the water and using her amazing voice

and her as an ordinary person- kicking back holding a glass of wine as well as the context of her personality

2) it also demonstrate the star as a construction as at the end of the video in pans  out and the lights come on showing the area she is been in throughout the video as merely a set with people running around tending to the various requirements the music video needs

3) it presents her as a commodity just by being who she is in that this video would of made money of the YouTube as well as records and gaining exposure which could lead to concerts and tours

4) finally it demonstrates her ideology- telling us to move on when having troubles in her life, but that it is ok to feel them and especially ok to kick back, like many adults, and have a glass of wine at the end of the day. again showing her vary average life style despite the level of celebrity she is

Goodwins theory

Goodwins theory

Goodwins theory can be applies to this music video - last Friday night by katy perry - in a number of ways:

genre characteristic: this music video identifies as part of the pop genre due to characteristics like the bright colours, up beat and teenage interest like parties and friends- considering that that would be considered the main target demographic

lyrics and visuals- cohesive and they like- describe last Friday with crazy event like 'glitter everywhere' linked with the mess of a room she wakes up.

music and visuals - katy perry often singing to camera- links her heavily to music- motif of parties and chaos and how she's included in them

close-ups and motif-- throughout, closeups of party aspects like mess all over the bedroom or people passed out. also close ups of katy perry herself as she sings. motif of party and teenage life showing the 'jocks' and the 'nerds'- a stereotypical American high school experience.

intertextual references- teenage life- something that most can relate despite being emphasised- parties and hangouts with friends- also reminder of cheesy high school American films.

Vogue music video

Madonna’s vogue music video in 1990, by David Fincher acted as a moment that brought the underground LGBTQ+ black and latinx subculture into global mainstream. The black and white video consisted of a video of glamorously dressed people performing a series of dance moves that became wildly popular and brought the term ‘vogueing’ into style. This video heavily Influenced the industry as it features many LGBTQ+  even during the AIDS epidemic which shed gay people into a seriously negative light. Madonna here provided heavy representation and helped to combat the negativity that many people would have faced in the 1990’s as well as creating a lighthearted, fun and influential trend that filled the nation with its glamorous lifestyle.

Marc Jacob’s beauty advert

For this advert I took a picture in a warm light and light background, not using a bright white to keep in with warm look. I wanted the advert to have a vintage and feminine feel so I didn’t use to many harsh colours like white or black. I matched the slogan to the colour of the bottle to tie the title in. In addition, I also added a few more similar looking flowers next to the bottle using photoshop to add to the natural essence that comes with the use of daisies tied in with the branding. Overall I am very happy with outcome this advert as I believe it has a warm and welcoming feel to it and I feel I have successfully tied in the product to the advert by using its colour throughout. 1 thing I do wish I could do better is make it more seem less when blending together my background as I distorted some of the shadow but overall I am extremely pleased and I believe it looks professional.

SHSG sixth form title

This is my advert demonstrating SHSG and more importantly sixth form life where I dive into all the different aspects I have discovered during my time here. Although I believed I have successfully captured the different elements my, advert is still very basic with a couple photos and some titles. I would improve this by looking at some conventional adverts showing places and try to apply the techniques I find as well as applying the techniques I have learnt as I continue my time in the classroom, in order to make this look more interesting. For example, I would have a prominent image that draws in consumers in which I would then anchor using a catchy phrase. Overall I am happy with the outcome of the piece considering this is my first time using photoshop.
